FAVV Approves Charm Blue Yellow II Test

December 30, 2011 - Charm Sciences Announces FAVV Approval of Charm Blue Yellow II Test

 

Charm Blue Yellow II Test was approved and validated by FAVV, Belgian’s federal executive agency for food safety. The Charm Blue Yellow II Test is a microbial inhibition assay that detects many antimicrobial drugs, including  beta lactam, tetracycline and sulfonamide drugs at or below EU MRLs (Maximum Residue Limits). It is designed for high volume screening of raw commingled and ultra-pasteurized cow milk.

GIPSA-Approved ROSA FAST5 DON Quantitative Test Kit

Lawrence, MA, Jan, 4, 2012 – Charm Sciences, Inc. is pleased to announce the ROSA® FAST5 DON Quantitative Test Kit, a 5 minute DON lateral flow test, has received approval from the United States Department of Agriculture’s Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) for the detection of DON (vomitoxin) in grain. GIPSA-Approved Commodities: Barley, Corn, DDGS, Malted Barley, Milled Rice, Oats, Rough Rice, Sorghum, Wheat, Wheat Bran, Wheat Flour and Wheat Midds.

The ROSA® FAST5 DON Quantitative Test is approved for official testing of DON in the U.S national grain inspection system. An official Certificate of Conformance from USDA/GIPSA (Certificate No. FGIS 2012-008) declares that the test kit met the accuracy specifications for the listed commodities at 0.5 to 5 ppm DON.

The Charm ROSA® FAST5 DON Quantitative Test is an immunoreceptor assay test utilizing ROSA (Rapid One-Step Assay) lateral flow technology. The ROSA® FAST5 DON Quantitative Test delivers rapid, economical, accurate detection for DON in a convenient single strip. The test is simple to perform and yields results in 5 minutes on the standard ROSA equipment currently in use. Diluted extract is applied to the test strip, incubated for 5 minutes, and read on the ROSA-M Reader.

“The ROSA® FAST5 DON Quantitative Test has been manufactured to reduce the assay time and meet the new GIPSA specifications required to quantitate DON in the field.” says Dr. Mark Tess, Mycotoxin Product Manager.

Reader Ranges for DON: 0 to 1.5 ppm and 1 to 6 ppm and kits are available in 20, 100, and 500 tests.

DMK Deutsches Milchkontor GmbH Adopts the New Charm EZ System for Antibiotic Testing in Milk

November 18, 2011 - Charm Sciences, Inc., (www.charm.com),  in cooperation with MCS Diagnostics BV,  (www.mcsdiagnostics.com), the Charm distributor for Germany, are pleased to announce that DMK Deutsches Milchkontor GmbH, the largest German dairy organization, is implementing the Charm EZ system from Charm Sciences. The Charm EZ system will be used at each plant to screen incoming truck loads of milk for beta lactams using the new MRL one minute beta lactam test. Plant testing will also include screening for other antibiotics such as tetracycline, streptomycin and chloramphenicol.
