Charm CideLite is an enzyme-linked bioluminescent assay that detects organophosphate and N-methylcarbamate insecticides and their active metabolites in water, feeds, and a variety of other food products with a single 15 minute test. Using an insect esterase that is more sensitive to insecticides than acetylcholinesterase, CideLite is 100 to 1000 times more sensitive to organophosphates and n-methylcarbamates than assays using an acetylcholinesterase reaction. If a positive result is obtained, further confirmation can be performed by methods such as HPLC or GC/MS to identify the specific pesticides present in the sample and their concentrations.
